Young Explorers Day One

Today was the beginning of a week full of many outdoor adventures with our Young Explorers!

First we set off on the Sense of Wonder Trail.

After that we started work on our Three Sisters Garden.

First we created mounds to plant some seeds.

We used deer scapulae as shovels and antlers as rakes.

Well... rakes and head ornaments.

We planted beans around our corn mounds and a few mounds of squash.

Later we took a hike up the creek where we caught plenty of minnows and tadpoles.

On our way back we spotted a fallen tree.

We determined that the tree must have been knocked over while it was still alive by a storm, as the roots pulled up the dirt underneath them.

We ended the day with some lovely music!
