After walking the Sense of Wonder Trail behind the center, we made our way down to the river.
Some of us just got our feet wet...
...while others jumped right in!
We were on the look out for signs of wildlife.
and we found some!
a minnow...
a clam...
a deer skull...
some shells...
A very successful trip to the river!
Later in the day we made a trip down to the creek
We collected minnows, tadpoles, and other creek dwellers, and then got a closer look.
Finally, on to the main event--fishing!
We tied the line and baited our hooks, then we waited very patiently.
Look at all the fish we caught!
Oh! That pesky snapping turtle...
